Our story

From a one-person operation to a team clients keep for decades

Cortexx Software started in July 1997 as a one-person operation in the Greater Toronto Area. It has grown into a software company trusted by businesses across Canada, built on nearly three decades of ERP expertise and client relationships that last, some of them now more than twenty years old.

It is also a family company. Ricardo Guevara founded it, and his son Max joined in 2018 as an office administrative assistant, working his way up through technical services to business development. Together they created Nexus, and the second generation now helps run the company alongside the first.

Along the way we learned a simple truth: the biggest gains don't come from adding another tool. They come from making the tools you already run work together. That is what drove us to build Nexus, our platform that brings every corner of your business into one intelligent picture.

Ricardo Guevara

Founder & President

Ricardo Guevara founded Cortexx Software Inc. in 1997 and has led it as President since. He is the architect and principal engineer behind Nexus, which he co-created with his son Maxim, and he sets the direction for the company's ERP integration and implementation practice.

He has spent more than thirty years designing, building and running production database systems and the software on top of them. Through Cortexx he has delivered 27 years of database engineering for Bank of Montreal (BMO), database work for the University of Toronto, and 19 years of contract and logistics systems for WMC Resources and then BHP Billiton.

He studied Computer Engineering at the University of Waterloo, and spent six years in IBM's programming language research and development group alongside his studies.

Maxim Guevara

Business Development Manager

Maxim (Max) Guevara is Business Development Manager at Cortexx Software Inc. in Markham, Ontario, a firm offering Spire ERP implementation, systems integration and custom software development. Cortexx is an Authorized Spire Implementation and Integration Partner.

Maxim is co-creator of Nexus, Cortexx's integration and intelligence platform, which connects ERP, warehouse management and CRM systems. Over five years he has helped grow Cortexx's client base and revenue. He joined Cortexx in 2018 and founded Cortexx Systems at 21.

Maxim exhibited on Spire's 2026 Open House tour and writes for CanadianSME. He holds an Honours BBA from Trent University and CIFC certification.
