Order Entry & Point of Sale: the desk and the counter, written into Spire
Take a sale at the desk or at the counter and write it straight into Spire. The order desk keys orders and quotes, priced from Spire; the point of sale takes payment, invoices in Spire, and handles returns, exchanges, the cash drawer and a loyalty programme.
Key capabilities
- Orders and quotes keyed at the desk and created in Spire, which numbers them
- A till for the counter: the sale, the payment and the Spire invoice in one flow
- Returns and exchanges, checked against the warehouse before anything moves
- The register: what the drawer should hold, from the float, cash in and out, and the cash payments Spire recorded
- Shared tablets each person unlocks with a PIN, with departments and quick keys for your counter
- Loyalty points earned at the till and spent there as a payment Spire records
The flow, end to end
-
Build the sale
Search for a part, or browse your departments and quick keys, and add the customer, or sell to a walk-in.
-
Take payment
Take payment at the counter, or on the floor where your location allows it, by the payment methods you set up.
-
Spire keeps the books
The order, the payments and the invoice are written into Spire. Each step checks what Spire already has first, so a sale is never sent twice.
-
Close the drawer
The register works out what the drawer should hold from the opening float, cash in and out, and the cash payments Spire recorded, and you count against it.
A Nexus module
Order Entry & Point of Sale draws on the same live data as everything else you run on Nexus, so it works in step with your other modules: no syncs, no exports. Add it on top of the platform: a monthly fee per company, scaled to your plan, with no per-seat charge.
What people ask about Order Entry & Point of Sale
Is loyalty included?
Yes. Members earn points on the till's invoices and spend them at the till, Spire records a redemption like any other payment, and a walk-in can join on the spot as a new Spire customer. You switch the programme on when you want to run one.
Does the till take cards?
Yes. The card is taken on your bank's own terminal, and the till records the payment with its authorisation code and the card's last four digits. No card number touches Nexus.
How many counters can we run?
As many as you need. Counters are not charged: the price follows your plan, and a company with two or more stores pays the full module price.
Do cashiers count as seats?
Not if they only work the till. A cashier who signs in at the till with their PIN can reach the till and nothing else, so they are a free seat. Someone who also keys orders at the desk or works the office screens is a power seat.
Do we have to run a till?
No. The order desk comes with the module, and the till is switched on separately for a company that has a counter.
Whose books are they?
Spire's. Nexus keeps the till's working record of each sale, so an interrupted sale can be finished without sending anything twice, but the order, the payments and the invoice are Spire documents.
Who can take payment?
Taking payment is a permission of its own, and a location can allow payment on the floor or keep it to the counter.
What if the connection drops?
A basket can still be sent to the counter and goes once the connection returns. Taking payment needs Spire to be reachable.
